We are located in the small village of El Hato, a twenty minute drive into the mountains from Antigua.
Don't have time to spend the night at Earth Lodge?? Come up just for the day, have lunch, hike around or just enjoy the view from the hammocks.
From Antigua
By Pick-up
Our driver will collect you in Antigua and bring you straight to Earth Lodge. This is the easiest way to get here and especially recommended for first time visitors. The ride costs Q50 for 1-5 people and Q10 per person for larger groups. We always try to group guests together so that you can split the cost. Contact us the day before to arrange the time and place.
By Car or Bike
The newly cobblestoned road through El Hato makes it easier than ever to drive or ride to Earth Lodge and there is space 300 meters up the hill from Earth Lodge to park your vehicle overnight (bicycles can be brought down the hill and kept at the lodge). If you have your own wheels, contact us for driving directions.
If you are driving and are a first time visitor, you must arrive before it is dark. The road can be narrow at points and if you don't know where you are going, it can be a bit precarious.
By Chicken Bus
Not recommended for first time visitors or first time chicken bussers. The schedule is very erratic and you have to walk about 25 minutes to Earth Lodge from where you get dropped off in the village. If you have been here before and know how to walk from the center of town, contact us first for bus times. If you are a first time visitor, using our driver is the best way to get here.
By Taxi
Not recommended. Taxi drivers in Antigua will offer to bring you here but even if they know where we are (there are two villages in the area called El Hato), the price will be extortionate. They oftentimes won't even bring you all the way as the last part is a dirt road. Save time and money by using our driver.
From the Airport
Our shuttle driver will meet you at Guatemala City Airport (GUA) and bring you straight to Earth Lodge. The ride costs 40 US Dollars for 1-4 people and 10 Dollars per person for larger groups. To arrange an airport pick-up, we will need your flight information (airline, flight number, arrival time) and a few day's notice.
Our driver can also take you from here to the airport which is particularly useful for early morning departures.
From Elsewhere
We don't arrange transportation from anywhere else, but Antigua is a major tourist hub easily reached from anywhere in Guatemala. You can now purchase shuttle tickets to all major destinations here at Earth Lodge. We have partnered with Antigua travel agency, LAX; all shuttles leave from Antigua, not from Earth Lodge, but we can organize your transportation to Antigua and you can then hop into your waiting shuttle!
