FAQ

We are located in lush tropical mountains of Guatemala, and we think it’s one of the most beautiful places on earth! As a rustic luxury eco resort, things here will probably be a little different than you are used to at home!

These helpful tips will ensure your visit to Earth Lodge is an amazing experience whether you’re just visiting for the day or staying a while. We can’t wait to share our stunning tropical mountain lodge with you!

Tips & Helpful Reminders

Wear walking shoes

We are situated at the foot of a STEEP 300m hill which you have to walk down a dirt and stone path to reach us (and walk back up eventually). We recommend you wear walking shoes. Nothing extreme is necessary, just something with a little grip. The path can get slippery, especially during rainy season.

Pack warm clothes

It can be very sunny and warm during the day, but because we're located in the tropical mountains it can get quite chilly at night. Be sure to bring a warm jacket or sweater with you. Staying with us? Don't worry, all of our rooms feature extra cozy Guatemalan made blankets and hot showers! The Temazcal is also great at night when the temperatures drop!

Bring a flashlight

In order to maintain the peace and tranquility of the mountains and to reduce our carbon footprint, we have minimal outdoor lighting. Be sure to bring a flashlight if you've visiting for dinner or staying with us overnight.

Bring a rain coat or umbrella

Our mountains are so lush and beautiful because we receive bountiful rain. Even if you are visiting outside of the rainy season, we can get an afternoon rain shower so it's best to plan ahead and bring rain gear.

Frequently Asked Questions

We can accept Guatemalan Quetzal, Bank Transfer, PayPal (5% processing fee), or most major credit cards (5% processing fee).

Are dogs allowed at Earth Lodge?

Pets are welcome but MUST be fixed, and on a leash at ALL times. Please help us maintain the peace and tranquility of Earth Lodge by ensuring your dog does not bark or bother other guests. Earth Lodge reserves the right to refuse entrance to pets or ask you to remove your pet from the property at any time.

Is it safe to eat raw fruits & veggies?

We use filtered drinking water and SOAP to thoroughly disinfect ALL fruits and veggies. Earth Lodge is dedicated to providing our guests with the cleanest drinking water and healthy foods, and is one of the safest places in Guatemala to eat raw foods.

Is Earth Lodge kid friendly?

We welcome families but ask that the peace and tranquility of the lodge are maintained and that children are attended to at all times. There is a beautiful nature path that families can walk together as well as a large green space for all our guests to enjoy, but we do not have playground equipment or other forms of entertainment for your children.

Is Earth Lodge handicap accessible?

Unfortunately, Earth Lodge is not wheelchair accessible or conducive to those with injuries that inhibit walking.

Do you have WIFI?

We have high speed STARLINK wifi at The Lodge and on the patio outside the lodge. Wifi not available in cabins.

What's the weather like?

During the dry season (Nov-April) it's mostly sunny and warm but not hot! During the rainy season (May-October) you can expect it to rain every day, but usually just for part of the day and temperatures are still quite moderate. We are in a more arid and temperate part of Guatemala which means it never gets too cold or too hot! No matter what time of year your visiting, we always advise guests to bring a rain jacket and layers, because being in the mountains means cooler nights but warm days!
